Us Foreword: Paragraph 1) place a comma after "required" and before "e.g."  -accepted
 Paragraph 4) "Radius" should not be capitalized.  -accepted
 In the last paragraph which begins "This standard was processed…" replace the comma after "Electro-Optical Instruments" with a period.  -accepted
 ANS Note 6 is inconsistent with Foreword paragraph 4). One or the other needs to be changed.  -accepted.  The forward will be revised to indicate the curvature per Note 6.

Item 4) in the ANS foreword states that for bonded surface interfaces, the direction of curvature is not indicated. ANS Note 6 states that for bonded interfaces. the direction of curvature is indicated consistent with the right-most element forming the surface.  change accepted. The forward will be revised to indicate the curvature per Note 6.
 None of the figures gives an example of curvature indication. I recommend indicating all curvatures with a + or - sign according to the lens design convention that a + curvature has as center of curvature to the right of the surface; and that we provide an example of this usage in at least one figure.  change rejected.  this was discussed in committee and the notation in Note 6 was found to be the best compromise between the alternatives.
